Hello everyone, it is a time that I wish to rewrite about my journey to sound. If you are a first-time visitor, my name is Kent Poon, and here is my blog about all kinds of “high-quality sound.”  My daily life is connected with sound-related topics, technical development, and business in professional and high-end audio markets. Most likely, the target audience of this blog will be colleagues in the same fields, customers who bought our products, and audiophiles who are generally interested in high-quality sound, especially myself. Talking things to myself cleared out some of the ideas in my mind and solidified a direction for the future.

This blog began in 2007, long before I started my distribution company. Much has changed since then. With the rapid increase in media speed and information output, we no longer wait for a human to provide answers; instead, we’ll rely on AI to generate responses from vast amounts of data. This evolution supposedly enhances our efficiency and fosters continuous learning and exploration of new ideas. But this will not benefit humans, especially the senses, in which sound is one central element.

Before we dive in, let me share a bit about myself and the exciting projects I’m involved in. I’m eager to converse with enthusiastic individuals, curious minds, and valued customers!

I co-founded and have been operating “Asia Weiss Limited” (www.asiaweiss.com), Switzerland Weiss Engineering (weiss.ch) sister company, and Asia’s head office.

I co-founded and have been operating Square Wave Limited (www.squarewaveltd.com), our multi-brand distribution and retail company. We have twenty active brands operating with our main office in Hong Kong and branches in Taipei, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Nagoya. When we started SquareWave (15 years ago), we aimed to create the perfect digital audio representation through our products, an ideal “square wave.” However, we are now dealing with turntable, vinyl, and analog audio brands and products and looking for a new identity.

Before I started with the above companies, people may have known me better about my high-quality audio productions. Here, you can find a few selections of my projects, including the new records company Jazz World (www.jazzworldrecords.com), which was co-founded with Hong Kong famous producer and Jazz event organizer Clarence Chang during the Covid era.

I was appointed Montreux Jazz Festival China’s CTO (A new MJF division) in 2021.

For the last 6 years, I have been working with a few of the pioneers in the field to launch a new international-scale startup in ultra-high-quality streaming, which, more importantly, gives power (commerce) back to the content creator, especially musicians in mind. This will be a story for the future. You may feel interested in why I am involved in various positions and businesses. This blog focuses on the elements that define my audio lifestyle. There are more going on, too, which save it for another post.
