UK producer Ben Hillier who has worked with Blur, Depeche Mode, Future Heads and Elbow, and currently working with Blur’s Graham Coxon on another solo production has purchased a pair of The Unity Audio Rock monitors.
The Rocks are an active two way monitor design with a sealed cabinet ensure accurate bass response, with a cabinet constructed from Baltic Birch plywood rather than typical MDF which has a unique Corian front baffle for maximum strength and minimal resonant frequency. High quality European 7” woofer and a 50kHz folded ribbon tweeter are also employed. A major component, and another unique feature is the bespoke Esoteric Audio Research Class A/B discrete amplifier, designed by one of the best amplifier designers in the world, Tim de Paravicini.
“ I’ve been testing The Rocks on various mixes and they’re outstanding, the bass response is fast and true and I love the clarity of Tim di Paravicini’s EAR amps. I can take mixes I’ve done on The Rocks and they sound great outside the studio. Overall, The Rocks are amazing, brutally revealing which is exactly what I need for demanding mixing”. Ben Hillier.
Unity The Rock and Black Rock can be found on sister company Squarewave Limited here.
