Last time when Bondy asked me to work on the mastering of her “Ting” album, I told her the best I can do is to create a musical balanced records. This direction works very well, the album earns so many awards and popularity amount audiophile market. That was the same period that I released my own Audiophile Jazz Prologue III. She heard both and asked how can her recordings to carry the similar sonic quality of Audiophile Jazz Prologue III. My response was we have to work from the recording and mixing session, with entire different approach than pop multi-track style.

This is what we got, her latest album “Ting Ting” entire recording chain is engineered by Kent Poon and created in such matter. 1 take live recording is always a key point that all musicians work together in one control environment. We use stereo miking whenever possible with the least amount of effects. The shortest signal path and room mics perform another key element to capture the time and space of each musician. The entire album has no bus compression, contains full natural dynamic that a live recording should be.

During the HiFi Show (from today August 07-09), a special limited edition will be available on the booth. There are only 1000pc made for this special edition. This limited edition CD glass master and pressing is MADE IN USA, even though there are only total of 3 songs.

“愛如潮水” is a guitar & vocal duet. Simple arrangement brings out the importance of good musicians. The sonic transparency of this song is exactly what we cannot achieve on the last album. “你是如此難以忘記” is a full band recording. You can hear full drum and bass dynamics at the last few bars. “心動 – piano version” will only appear in this limited edition. If you are fans of bondy, this piano version will be a reason for you to go HiFi Show and buy this album. This song will not appear on the full album. The piano, saxophone and vocal creates the feeling and mood, which fits the song just right.
